Proud Partners of Generation Music

Philadelphia Cultural Fund

Established in 1991, PCF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enriching Philadelphia’s artistic and cultural landscape.

By providing general operating support to Philadelphia-based arts and culture organizations, we advocate for the value of the arts and their importance to the growth and future of our community.
The social, educational, and economic development of Philadelphia is tied to the vitality of arts and culture in our city. PCF recognizes and promotes the contributions and services of Philadelphia-based organizations, both emerging and established, across all ten districts.

Calvary St. Augustine Episcopal Church

Establishing a residency in 2022, Calvary St. Augustine Church located in West Philadelphia has allowed us to bring our Mini-masterclass and music theory classes to their summer and after school programs. Students have been able to learn from guest musicians and teaching artists, through hands-on interactive workshops and performances.

Project 440

Project 440 engages, educates and inspires young musicians, providing them with the career and life skills they need to develop into tomorrow's civic-minded, entrepreneurial leaders. Through music, every young person is provided with the opportunity and tools for individual growth and community impact.

The Presser Foundation

The Presser Foundation was established in 1939 under the will of the late Theodore Presser. It is one of the few private foundations in the United States dedicated solely to music education and music philanthropy. The Presser Foundation considers applications for funding from music organizations working in a broad range of traditions, genres, and styles through general operating and program grants (Greater Philadelphia); capital grants for music building projects (Greater Philadelphia); undergraduate and graduate student awards (national); and assistance to retired music teachers (national). The Foundation established the Advancement of Music grantmaking area to provide general operating support to music organizations, which allows them to use the funds as they see fit to reach their goals. The Foundation is committed to equitable, transparent, and forward-thinking philanthropy. For more information: www.presserfoundation.org.

Motivated By Music

Motivated By Music (MBM) was created because my son, Justin is a violist (Alumni of PMAY, Musicopia, Project 440, Temple Prep, & Sinfonia). When we were preparing him for college it was difficult to find scholarships outside for musicians. When we did find one there were so many requirements that most times we did not qualify for it. After our experience I decided to create our own scholarship fund.

In November 2021, Motivated By Music was founded. Our goal is to make the scholarship application easy, the scholarship may cover either tuition or room & board, and not to have any disqualifying requirements.

MUSICOPIA

Through a teaching roster of professional ensembles and solo musicians of the highest caliber, Musicopia helps Pre-K-12th grade students explore and develop their musical interests, learn to play an instrument, and perform alongside enthusiastic peers through in-school assemblies, workshops, and residencies, and long-term ensembles including the after-school Musicopia String Orchestras and Musicopia Drumlines.

Musicopia’s Gift of Music instrument donation program also collects, repairs and places donated musical instruments with those students who need them the most.

PHILADELPHIA MUSIC ALLIANCE FOR YOUTH(PMAY)

The Philadelphia Music Alliance for Youth (PMAY) is a collaborative of organizations in the Philadelphia region dedicated to providing music education, performance  and enrichment opportunities to youth. The collaborative started in 2012, and its members share a commitment to improving communities through the regular study of music. The PMAY Artists’ Initiative is a project that supports 5th-12th grade students from underrepresented communities and low-income households to pursue their dream of becoming a professional classical musician. The PMAY Artists’ Initiative offers young musicians financial support to make lessons, music classes, youth orchestra participation, and summer music camps affordable.
