Volunteer

Generation Music is seeking enthusiastic volunteer musicians for our upcoming community event, Night at the Orchestra: Instrument Petting Zoo. This fun, interactive morning is all about introducing kids and families to the instruments of the orchestra — and we need your help to make it a success!

When: Saturday, September 13th, 2025 11am-12:30pm (volunteers needed from 10am-1pm)

​

Where: Lillian Marrero Library (601 West Lehigh Ave Phila, PA 19133)

​

🎻 Volunteer Roles: Instrument Guides (Musicians)

  • Demonstrate your instrument to children and families

  • Answer basic questions about how it works or sounds

  • Help young attendees hold the instruments (when appropriate)

  • Participate in a short group performance at the end of the event

​

✅ Who We’re Looking For:

  • Friendly, reliable volunteers with a passion for music and community

  • Musicians who play orchestral instruments (students, professionals, or hobbyists welcome!)

Volunteer Signup Form

September-November | 3-4 hours/week | $500 stipend

There are four (4) open positions.

If you love music and teaching then look no further! We are looking for college musicians that are passionate about music education and community engagement. This is a unique opportunity to gain real-world nonprofit experience while making a meaningful impact on Philadelphia youth!​​

We are currently hiring for the following instruments 🎵

  • Flute and Clarinet instructor

  • Violin Instructor

  • Trombone instructor

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a college/university music program (or recent graduate)

  • Strong proficiency on your instrument and ability to lead lessons for students in 4th-8th grades 

  • Reliability and commitment to th full September-November program schedule​

  • Passion for youth development and the arts!
